HUNTIN’ DAYLIGHT — HIGHER COSTS, EITHER WAY
As commodity prices continue to escalate, driven by
increased global grain demand, as well as subsidized grain-
based ethanol, all kinds of lingering fundamental debates
are being ushered to center stage.

FEED PRICES MAY ENCOURAGE CREEP FEEDING
Today’s high feed prices could make this the perfect year
to try creep feeding.

IT’S THE PITTS — UNFAITHFUL
Every day there’s news of another celebrity or politician
who was caught being unfaithful to his or her mate.

OPTIMUM COW SIZE IMPORTANT FOR EFFICIENCY
Over the past several decades the average cow on many
ranches has increased in frame size, and in recent years
some stockmen are realizing that their cattle have become
too large to be efficient.

RISING FUEL COSTS FORCE PRODUCERS TO FOCUS ON EFFICIENCY
Unless you have been completely asleep the last year or so,
it is obvious that we now live in a very different economic
environment. While all individuals and businesses have been
affected by the changes, largely manifested by the world
fuel situation and federal fuel policy that is faulty at
best, few groups have been harder hit than the family farm
and agriculture in general.

DEVELOPING HEIFERS CORRECTLY ENSURES PRODUCTIVE LIFE
Management protocols often follow mission statements or
reflect something stated in an end-of-the-year financial
statement or lost market share to competitors. This business
world jargon may sound like a foreign language to some
ranchers; however, most realize, to succeed, these terms
need to become part of their production model.

WHAT DOES IT TAKE FOR CATTLE TO QUALIFY FOR CAB?
Most beef producers own at least some Angus cattle. They may
have wondered what it takes for their calves to qualify for
the Certified Angus Beef® brand.

RISING NITROGEN PRICES CAUSE PROBLEMS FOR PRODUCERS

fuel pump. Commercial nitrogen fertilizer production is
heavily dependent upon fossil fuels.
