EARLY DETECTION OF PREGNANCY PROBLEMS IMPORTANT
There are a number of things that can go wrong during the
last phase of pregnancy. Some of these problems can be
resolved or dealt with rather easily, and others are more
serious — and can be life threatening to the cow or fetus.

RESOURCES AND ENVIRONMENT BUILD BULL POWER
Today, satisfied commercial customers set the standard in
the purebred beef business, not the blue ribbons of the past
generation. With modern tools of production, breeders can
fine tune their bull development program to build a customer
base.

CLONING ALLOWS BREEDERS TO CAPITALIZE ON ELITE GENETICS
The competitive edge always brings an eye to the future.
“Status quo” or standing still is usually not too profitable
in the beef business. As breeders take the next step with
identical genetic replicas or clones, is this cutting edge
or Star Wars?

BLOAT EFFECTS CAN BE REDUCED THROUGH MANAGEMENT
Every year about now, thousands of head of cattle are
turned out on lush, green pastures that have sprung up
after a long hard winter. Endemic with the growth of
these pastures is a condition most cattle producers are
familiar with to at least some degree, that of bloat.

YOUR HIDDEN EMAIL ADDRESS
Our Ranch List, Links, Classified Ads and Forums use hidden
email addresses. They are stored in a secure area that is
not accessible to the spambots that travel around the ‘net
collecting email addresses to add to their spam lists. And
you can be sure that we will never sell or give your address
to anybody for any reason. Never have, never will.
THE ETHANOL QUESTION?
For Dick Carlson, the rise of the ethanol business – and the
increased availability of distillers grain (DG) for feeding
livestock – is ultimately a good thing for the cattle
business. But there are also questions about the impacts of
feeding DG on beef quality and feed efficiency – and the
quicker the industry answers them, the better off it will be.

NON-BUYING BIDDERS
Believe it or not, there are situations in an auction when a
bidder is totally ignored. Maybe it’s because their last
check is still bouncing or perhaps it’s because they belong
to one of the following species of non-buying bidders.

PARASITES ARE AN ONGOING EVIL THAT MUST BE CONTROLLED
Some regions of the country present a unique set of
challenges when it comes to managing livestock. Different
areas afford various limiting factors that affect overall
performance. Parasites are an ongoing evil and must be
strategically dealt with for cattlemen to make the most of
their efforts when dealing with these profit-robbing vermin.

CATTLEMEN ASK CONGRESS TO REFORM MARKET STRUCTURE
U.S. cattle producers asked Congress to correct the
deficiencies in the U.S. livestock market that presently
give the nation’s largest meatpackers a distinct pricing
advantage over domestic cattle prices and have resulted in
an erosion of competition for livestock producers.

FEEDING RECORD CATTLE PRICES
A dollar per pound. A hundred bucks per hundredweight. The
week of April 10 prices for fed cattle across the
nation—217,000 head—charged to and a little past that
magical century mark.

MARKETING TOOLBOX CONTAINS MANY USEFUL COMPONENTS
The marketing model has been created for seedstock
producers. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel. Tailor
the marketing program to your strengths and borrow ideas
from colleagues in the business. Sure differences exist, but
the fundamentals are the same.

Do you know how the small arrow in the screen of the
computer works when we move the mouse? Haven’t you ever
wondered how it works? Now, through the miracle of high
technology, we can see how it is done. With the aid of a
screen magnifying lens the mechanism becomes apparent.
Click on the below link and wait for it to load, then move
your mouse to the center of the screen. It’s from Japan
and rather slow loading, but worth it.
